Safin Karim: Performer

Safin Karim (he/him) hails from Orlando, and currently resides in New York City. Safin has been fortunate enough to work in places such as the Dr. Phillips Center, the Iris Cantor Theater, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral under prominent directors and conductors, including Broadway music director Ted Sperling and world-traveled opera director Sam Helfrich.

A homeschooled student, Safin made the journey up to NYC and had his first day of school at NYU, where he is pursuing his B.M. in Vocal Performance, with a concentration in Musical Theatre.

Safin received piano and voice training in Florida from Victoria Schultz. He continues his vocal training with tenor Dr. Scott Murphree.

As a music director and pianist, Safin has accumulated a body of work in Florida, playing and coaching masterclasses with individuals such as Kelli O’Hara, Broadway performer Paige Davis, and director Joseph Walsh.

As a music educator, Safin has been the Musical Theatre instructor and Music Director for educational theatre productions and summer intensives - teaching classes for ages six to seventeen in sizes of six to sixty.

As a vocal coach for high schools and middle schools in his hometown, Safin helped aid in the development and comfort of young voices in transition, helping them choose and navigate appropriate and enjoyable repertoire. For this, he won Central Florida’s Singhaus Scholarship, speaking on the topic at the annual awards reception for members of Florida’s government.
